Coffee is the most popular drink worldwide after water. Besides contributing to the economy, there are many proven health benefits of this dark, bitter, and delicious ‘dirt water’.
But before talking about those benefits, it is important to note that for many people, coffee is a morning ritual (or midday, we don’t judge). Some instances of grumpiness have been noted; hence, it’s advised not to talk to some creatures before their morning coffee hit.
But does coffee really have health benefits? Or is it all just a myth?
Well, research shows that moderate coffee consumption is associated with better cognition and contains health protective effects. Some studies suggest that coffee might have protective powers against Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and risk strokes. This is because it is rich in antioxidants; in fact, coffee is the major source of antioxidants in most nutritious lifestyles, not fruits!!! (this explains the long queues at your favourite coffeeshop). Furthermore, it has been associated with lower risks of certain types of cancer and type-2 diabetes. Routine coffee drinking is also associated with lower risks of cardiovascular disease-related mortality rate. (Being active)
Besides physical health benefits, coffee provides positive effects on our mental health, including depression, behaviour, and mood if consumed moderately. It can also increase your attention and improve your mood.
So, it is safe to say that coffee can be a part of healthy lifestyle…
